Rochester Public Utilities reported that approximately 8,000 of its customers were affected by storm related outages, and as of late Friday afternoon, about 500 were still in the dark. A spokesman says some of those customers may not see their electrical service restored until Saturday. Peoples Energy Cooperative also reported major outages because of the blizzard, and at last report, still had about 1700 customers without electrical service. Xcel Energy is reporting that 60,000 of its customers in the Midwest experienced storm related outages and close to 2,000 in Minnesota were still waiting for their service to be restored late Friday afternoon.
