Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The storm system that rumbled through the region this weekend dumped an inch and a half to over 3 inches of rain on the Rochester area.

The highest rainfall total near Rochester was a little over 3.1 inches in Pine Island. Just under 2 inches was recorded at the Rochester Airport, while Byron saw over 2 1/2 inches of rain. Flash flood warnings were posted for portions of northeastern Iowa, where some areas saw over 3 1/2 inches rain.

The storm was even stronger when it crashed into western and south-central Minnesota Saturday night. The National Weather Service says nearly 70 mile-per-hour wind gusts were recorded near Granite Falls and Montevideo, where there were numerous reports of downed trees and power lines.

The National Weather Service says over 6 inches of rain fell in the Fairmont area, and rainfall totals in excess of 3 inches or common across sections of south-central and west-central Minnesota.
