Veterans Day, November 11, is a day set aside to recognize and appreciate all those who have so selflessly served our country as members of the armed forces. To honor those veterans who have served the United States through military service, several restaurants in Rochester are offering free meals to veterans on Veterans Day. Here's a list of some of those restaurants.

Applebee's is offering seven free meal options for veterans. Their offer is good only on November 11 and veterans must show proof of military service. There is no mention of whether a drink is included with the meal.

Denny's is honoring veterans on Veterans Day by offering them a free 'Build Your Own Grand Slam' meal from 5 AM to noon on November 11. The offer is extended to guests who show a valid military ID.

Little Caesars is offering a free $5 Hot-and-Ready lunch combo to veterans and military personnel for Veterans Day. Their combo consists of four pieces of their deep dish pizza and a 20-ounce Pepsi product. The offer is good from 11 AM to 2 PM on November 11.

Olive Garden is celebrating veterans and military personnel with a free meal that includes unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks along with these five entree options. In addition, family members will receive 10 percent off their meals, as well. Beverage and gratuity are not included in the offer.

Outback Steakhouse wants to give military veterans and personnel a free Bloomin' Onion and beverage on November 11 to thank them for their service. The restaurant chain is also offering military personnel and their families 15 percent off all their meals for the rest of the year. A valid military ID is necessary for these offers.

Red Lobster is extending its thanks to veterans and military personnel from now through November 12, offering a free appetizer or dessert to those with valid proof of service.

If you know of any other restaurants in the Rochester area that are honoring veterans and active duty military personnel with free meals on Veterans Day, please let us know and we'll add them to our list.

And thank you to all of you who have served our country with honor and bravery!

For those of you not in the Rochester area, Time Magazine offers a list of even more restaurants offering free meals to veterans.

And, according to our Facebook fans, several other area businesses are offering veterans free stuff, including Texas Roadhouse, Perkin's, Old Country Buffet, Famous Dave's, Crooked Pint, Hy-Vee, Starbucks and Buffalo Wild Wings.

With all potential offers, it is probably best to contact them first to check on offers and to remember proof of service such as a military ID.
