5 Songs From the 90’s You Totally Forgot About
10 Songs from the 90's You Forgot About. That's a pretty bold statement on my part, but I'll bet it's true. Why? Because there are SO many songs and our brains can't keep them all on shuffle.
Not all of these are my favorites, but they are songs played in Southeastern Minnesota during the 1990's.
5 - 100% Pure Love by Crystal Waters
"The song was a hit in many countries, reaching the top 20 in Australia, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It was certified Gold in the US. BuzzFeed ranked it at number 9 in their list of "The 101 Greatest Dance Songs of the '90s" in 2017." (Source)
4 - How Bizarre by OMC
"How Bizarre" topped the singles charts in New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Canada and Ireland. As the track was only released to radio in the United States, with no commercial single made available to buy, the song was not allowed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 under the chart rules in place at the time." 3 - Don't Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days) by Monica
"The song is built around samples of "Bring the Noise" (1987) by American hip hop group Public Enemy, and "Back Seat (Of My Jeep)" (1993) by American rapper LL Cool J, which itself samples elements from the song "You're Gettin' a Little Too Smart" (1973) by R&B vocal group The Detroit Emeralds. 2 - Mouth by Merril Bainbridge
If you think this song is dirty, that's on you. According to Wiki, Bainbridge said, "It's just honest—about a relationship, how you feel in a relationship. Sometimes you feel you're in control and the next thing, you're insecure—it's the role playing thing."
1 - Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
The song samples "Summer Madness" by Kool & the Gang" and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 1992 Grammy Awards. It spent a week at number #1 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart, as well as reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also went Top Ten in the UK. (Source)
So, what do you think? Did you forget about them? What songs should I add in the series?
