After 80 years of being open at the Minnesota State Fair, the Robbinsdale OES Dining Hall will be closing. The bright yellow hall is being sold to the fair. The decision came down to financial and practicality situations. Prices are going up and their members are getting older. Since their workers are all volunteers from their Chapter it is becoming hard to find volunteers.

OES's Michael Powles was recently interviewed by City Pages. He was a volunteer for 15 years and said it was fun but now he is kind of excited to be able to go to the fair out of enjoyment and not be going to work.

Everyone is curious to see what will take over the hall. Maybe the fair will make it a historical piece that fair-goers can visit. Or maybe it will be an entire building dedicated to my favorite fair food, deep-fried candy bars!
