Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A line of thunderstorms swept across parts of SE Minnesota Thursday evening and they produced brief periods of heavy rain.

Strong winds are also being blamed for downed tree limbs and power lines in the Elgin and Red Wing areas.

More strong cells developed early Friday. One hit Rochester around 2:30 AM and it dumped heavy rain on the city for about 10 minutes. Since Thursday night, more than an inch of rain has been recorded at the St Marys Hospital helipad. There were scattered reports of downed tree limbs and power outages in the city Friday morning.

The National Weather Service says 4 - 7 inches of rain fell in parts of northeast and east-central Minnesota Thursday, leading to flash flooding and washed out roads. Heavy rain also fell in the Twin Cities and led to a two-hour delay of Thursday night’s Twins game.
