Another Arrest in Rochester Shooting Investigation
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was arrested Friday after police found an AK-47 at his home was arraigned Monday in connection to last Tuesday’s shooting of an occupied home.
Charged with being an accomplice after the fact and aiding an offender was 37 year old Sean Biren.
According to the criminal complaint, Biren has admitted the gun was given to him by Joshua Cunningham, the man who investigators believe is the one who fired about 15 rounds at the home and a vehicle parked in the driveway. Police found bullet holes in two bedrooms and a bathroom.The three juveniles in the home were not hurt and told officers they heard a motorcycle drive off after the shooting. Biren says Cunningham was driving a motorcycle when he came to his home that evening.
Cunningham was arrested two hours after the shooting when police found him with a handgun, which is illegal because he is a convicted felon.The man who lives at the home that was fired at told police Cunningham had pointed a gun at him while at a convenience store before the shooting, apparently due to a dispute over a debt.
Police became aware of Biren’s involvement when Cunningham called him from jail the day after his arrest, apparently inquiring about the gun. Biren said when he learned of the shooting, he put the gun in the trunk of his car, which is where police found it.
Cunningham may also be facing drug charges after police found 30 pounds of synthetic marijuana at a storage unit he was linked to. Officers found the pot while searching the unit for the gun used in the shooting.
