It doesn't get more Minnesotan than SPAM!

While some hate it, I've always loved Spam. It was a special treat in our house. So, naturally, when my parents decided to make a spontaneous trip to visit me, I concluded that we'd take a day trip to Austin.

Now, if you're unaware, Austin is home to the SPAM Museum! It is an exceptional place, even if you're not a Spam lover. The history and success of the Minnesota-created product is truly fascinating.

Plus, the museum is free! It doesn't get much better than that.

Just in case you haven't realized Spam's popularity, I'll let you in on a little secret. 12.8 cans of Spam are eaten every second. Now, that's A LOT of Spam!

It does make sense as Spam products are sold in 44 different countries around the world.

My niece came along on this trip, and I have to say, I appreciate how kid-friendly this museum is. Throughout the entirety of the building, there are games and interactive displays for children of all ages. So no need to worry about a babysitter!

We ended our tour with a stop in the gift shop, and yes, I did buy a Spam sweatshirt, and yes, I couldn't be more excited to sport it around this fall! Along with Spam apparel, my family and I grab a few cans of cheaply priced Spam!

I'll be making some pizza burgers with mine!

FIVE THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT MINNESOTA

From purposefully spinning the car around on snow/ice to the Minnesota Nice Department of Health Inspectors and the Hot Dog Stand, you'll probably had no idea these things were true in Minnesota.

10 LIES MINNESOTANS TELL THEMSELVES

Sure, they're lies...but they also point to a fundamentally positive attitude about our lives in the greatest state in the nation (that just happens to have air that'll hurt your face).
