Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - A man was assaulted and threatened with a knife Monday night outside a northwest Rochester apartment complex.

Police were called around 10:30 PM to The Gates of Rochester by a 22-year-old man.

He told officers he was outside the K building at the apartment complex brushing snow off his car when a man came up from behind and threw him to the ground. The victim says the man threatened to stab him with a knife and demanded his money. The victim told the man he had no money and then kicked at him. When the would-be robber came at the victim again, he began waving his snow scraper. The man took the victim’s phone and ran off.

The victim was shaken up but not hurt. He described the man as in his early 20s, black, six feet tall, 175 pounds with short black hair.
