Fried Chicken From Beloved Minnesota Spot Now Ranks Among The Best In America
It shouldn't come as a shock that fried chicken is widely considered to be a quintessential comfort food. I mean, who can resist chicken dipped in batter and fried until crisp and golden?
It doesn't even matter what sides I have with it, although I prefer mashed potatoes and gravy and cole slaw, I'll rarely say no to fried chicken, and it appears I'm not alone.
According to US Foods, a significant percentage of consumers say they crave fried chicken at least once a month or more, with many citing weekly or even daily consumption. This widespread appeal is reflected in its prevalence on menus across various restaurant types, as well sheer number of restaurants dedicated to fried chicken in various variations.
So, if you're on a quest to find the best fried chicken in America, where do you go? The truth is that every state has great places for fried chicken, although I've found my all-time favorites in the southern states.

That doesn't mean that great fried chicken can't be found in Minnesota, as a recent study proved.

The Best Fried Chicken In Minnesota
When it came to Minnesota, one place stood out among all others, and while it's beloved among those who have been there or have tried their food through catering, there's a good chance you've never tried it because it's hidden inside a Minneapolis market.
Minnesota's best fried chicken was determined to be found at Wendy's House of Soul, now located inside the North Market in the Webber-Camden neighborhood of north Minneapolis.
The team at LoveFood notes that not only does Wendy's House of Soul make amazing fried chicken, with the go-to order being the whole wings served over fries with a side of house-made Soul Sauce, but there's another standout menu item that is not to be missed.

Owner Wendy Puckett also invented Soulrolls, which are crispy, deep-fried egg rolls stuffed with a 'flavorful mix' of soul food staples like greens, mac ’n’ cheese, and smoked meats. Puckett says on their website that she invented the Soulroll to trick her kids into eating the proper amount of daily vegetables. It's a great idea, and now we all benefit from her creation.
Wendy's House of Soul menu not only includes chicken wings and Soulrolls, but there's also a Chicken & Waffles Meal, a fish sandwich, a tasty-looking creation called a HOLPOLISH, Soul Tots, and even a caramel cake.
You can head to the North Market and eat there, or have your food delivered. Wendy's House of Soul is open Monday through Friday from 11 am to 7 pm. Catering is also available.
