Summer may be half over, but the nice weather is not going anywhere anytime soon! One of my favorite things to do outside as well as an activity with friends is hiking, or in my case, just walking around nature and admiring it (not necessarily the traditional hiking). Like always I came across a TikTok from a girl who listed the top ten places to hike in Minnesota, and I have to share some with you.

  1. Observation Tower

I don’t know the specific one pictured in the video, but there are many fire and observation towers for you to check out. The DNR has a list of them here.

  1. Big Spring Falls

Just outside Sandstone MN, Big Spring Falls is one of Minnesota’s most scenic falls. According to visitsandstonemn.com “this river feature on the Kettle River was hidden until a dam was removed in 1995.”

  1. Caribou Falls

Caribou Falls is located on the Caribou River between Little Marias and Taconite Harbor and is one of Minnesota’s better waterfalls on the north shore, according to gowaterfalling.com.

  1. Cascade Falls

This is just one of the falls on the Superior Hiking Trail, but it is so beautiful with many drops. And the rock near the falls has been carved from the water to create beautiful scenery for you.

  1. Temperance Falls

This fall is just to the south of the Cascade, but the park near this fall is just as beautiful. Check it out on Minnesota’s DNR website.

  1. Devil's Kettle Falls

This one is actually related to Cascade Falls, as it is one of the many falls along the Superior Hiking Trail, but many say you need to see this one, as it is “mysterious.”

  1. Ely’s Peak

Located in Duluth is Ely’s Peak another one of the great places to visit on the north shore. According to onlyinyourstatemn.com, “Ely's Peak is a low-lying hill near Duluth, Minnesota. It rises 1,133 feet above sea level at its highest point, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape…The peak is also the site of an abandoned train tunnel! The tunnel dates back to 1910 when the Duluth, Winnipeg, and Pacific Railway broke ground."

  1. The Quarries

Located in St. Cloud is the Quarry Park and Nature Reserve, and this is one place you have to check out! I have personally been here myself and it is a huge park area with old mining quarries that are now places to swim and jump off cliffs (safely of course)! More information is available at visitstcloud.com.
