When you think about a black bear, you typically imagine seeing one out in the wild, like at Yellowstone. While your chances are high in that outdoor setting, it sounds like Southeast Minnesota could have some luck as well. According to law enforcement, another bear has been recently spotted in our neck of the woods.

ALERT: Bear Spotted Recently in Southeast Minnesota
Just a few weeks ago, we heard about a bear that was splashing around in the Mississippi River near Lake City. Now it appears that another bear has been spotted in Southeast Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, most of the black bears that reside in the Land of 10,000 Lakes are found in the top 1/3 of the state. However, occasionally, some of the 13,000 to 18,000 black bears in Minnesota will venture to other areas of the state. Based on the latest report from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, it sounds like we've got another visitor nearby.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff's office, a small adult bear was spotted in the NE part of Dodge County (outlined in red).
The MN DNR has made us aware of a recent bear sighting in the NE portion of Dodge County. This is a small adult male bear 125-150 lbs. The DNR asks that residents take down bird feeders and keep their garbage cans secured on non-garbage days to encourage the bear to move along. If you spot this bear, you can report the sighting on the following link, but please do not approach or interact with it as it will likely exit the area soon.
