Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - The rash of catalytic converter thefts in the Rochester area continues.

The victim in the latest case is Byron Public Schools.

The devices were discovered missing Monday morning from three school buses that had been parked outside the district’s garage site. It appears they had been stolen over the weekend. The preliminary loss was put $3,000.

There have been numerous reports of catalytic converter thefts in recent months.

Local investigators suspect the devices are being sold to scrap metal businesses in other areas of Minnesota or out of state. It’s also suspected several groups may be involved in the thefts.
