Twenty(ish) years ago, I sat in a folding chair at a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting, running on five hours of sleep, watching another mom get a professional color analysis done - and wishing it was me.  I never got picked.

But today, AI finally gave me mine.  For free.

What Is A Color Analysis?

A color analysis is where different pieces of large fabric in solid colors are places over your chest and along your neckline to analyze which one looks best with your color tone.

Why I Never Got A Color Analysis (Until Now)

Today, you can get an analysis done by a professional, in-person for $150 to $500+.  My budget doesn't even have a line item for that - let alone that price.

I did some digging and it appears that you can also find some online resources for $50 to $150.

But ChatGPT is free - and this one prompt can tell you quite a bit from just a single photo.

The Prompt To Give ChatGPT For Your Free Digital Color Analysis

I saw on the internet today that you can ask ChatGPT to do a color analysis - you just type in a specific prompt, upload a photo, and it will put it all together for you so you can view the results.

Here's my bathroom selfie that I used when I tried the color analysis prompt with ChatGPT:

Here's the prompt that I added for the color analysis: (just cut and paste it)

PROMPT: Using my photo, create a professional color analysis image. Use the Dressing Your Truth system of colors. Show me draped in the Type 1, 2, 3, and 4 palettes with matching hair tone (but NO hair color change) and natural everyday makeup for each type. Please layer & drape all of the colors in one type across my shoulders together. Use correct “DYT colors” so I can evaluate which palette makes my skin look brightest, eyes clearer, and shadows reduced. Use accurate color palettes for each type: • Type 1: light, bright, warm (coral, peach, turquoise, light yellow) • Type 2: soft, muted, cool (dusty rose, lavender, sage, blue-gray) • Type 3: warm, rich, earthy (rust, mustard, olive, camel) • Type 4: cool, rich, high-contrast jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, royal purple, fuchsia, true red, black, white, charcoal) Keep facial features and proportions exactly the same and include the types and tones next to each image for color reference

Here Is What AI Created For My Color Analysis With The Prompt Above

The Results Shocked Me - I Own None Of The Colors For The #1 Pick

I threw the results up on my Facebook page and asked people what color scheme they thought looked the best.

So far, the top pick I'm seeing is #1.  Honestly, I am a bit shocked.  I have zero items in my closet to reflect those colors.  Maybe 1 shirt.  That's it.

Now It's Your Turn - Drop Your Results

Try the prompt above, and then come find me on Facebook - Jessica On The Radio.  Drop your photo in the comments so I can see it or send me a message if you don't want it out there for the world to see.

One of the saddest stories to read is when one our favorite restaurants announces that they have closed for good. Unfortunately, it seems like this is news we are hearing more and more of in this economy.

We asked locals in Rochester, Minnesota what favorite spot would be heartbreaking to hear that they had closed for good - here are the top answers.
