This past weekend, I decided it was time to go through my closet and get rid of some unwanted clothes because they are just taking up space. After Googling places I could take them, I found that The Rochester's Moms Blog put together a list of places to take your unwanted clothes that help out people in our community.

  1. Salvation Army- They are always taking donations of gently used clothing, shoes, toys and furniture that can be sold to help those in need.
  2. Habitat for Humanity- If you have unwanted toys, appliances, books or anything that can be used in a house, they will take those donations. When they build a house, they try and help the family as much as possible.
  3. Rochester Minnesota Workforce Center- This is a professional development center that helps young adults and adults get into the workforce. If you have any unwanted professional clothing or shoes, they will take them. The Rochester Mom's Bolg says this way someone going to an interview will have a nice outfit to wear.
  4. Olmsted County Foster Care- Is a Facebook group that collects items for kids in foster care. Most of the time they are looking for kid's clothing and toys according to the mom's blog. This group wants these children to have the best life possible, so they seek out the best donations.
  5. Thrift on 5th- This affordable thrift shop helps out those in need. They offer clothing for under a dollar and even have a free section. The money that is raised here goes back into a scholarship for Thrive Childcare & Resouce center, says the Rochester Mom's Blog.

There are plenty more resources in our community that will take your donations. These were just a few that stood out to me. I hope this helps!
