Donald Trump, Who Has Nothing Better to Do, Slams Taylor Swift for Political Post
What is President Donald Trump up to this week, you might ask yourself: seeking peace abroad? Sorting through important sanctions? Seeking a solution to drug epidemics?
Nope, he's tearing into Taylor Swift, who finally declared she's supporting a pair of Democratic candidates as part of the upcoming Tennessee midterm elections.
Swift, who stunned fans Sunday (October 7) when she — for the very first time — declared she was leaning blue (at least this time around...), received mounds of support and equal criticism from followers. What she probably didn't expect, though, was that the president — who, himself, has roots in celebrity — would mock her for being clueless about Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn exclusively because Swift is famous.
“I’m sure Taylor Swift doesn’t know anything about [Blackburn]. Let's say that I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now," Trump told a reporter Monday night (October 8).
And Twitter users very quickly told The Donald to take several seats.
"Taylor is gonna end him. i’m not fan of taylor but bitch wtf i stan her rn," one wrote, while another noted "I’m sure she doesn’t care about you and if you like her music or not either. And I’m sure she knows herself more than you know how to run a country."
In a lengthy Instagram post earlier this week, Swift — who admitted to previous misgivings over declaring her political allegiances — said she couldn't stand back and watch Republican candidates like Blackburn seek to disenfranchise marginalized groups. Finally, she said, she was ready to fight for equality.
"I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love," she wrote. "Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values."
