Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day...and I'm kinda sick of it, tho Courtney Lawson (in the studio with me today from NAMI) loves it, so we put together a little warning about how to enjoy the day...responsibly!

Talk Like a Pirate Day is fun, but Courtney was really in studio to talk about NAMIWalks, which is Saturday at the RCTC Fieldhouse.

Why walk to help NAMI? Because it's a great organization that's doing the important work of improving the lives of people living with mental illnesses and their families. I'm on the board because I believe so strongly that we need three things...

a) To do away with the stigma and misunderstandings over mental illness.

ii) Raise awareness so people know it's OK to ask for help, that it's a sign of strength and it doesn't need to cost a fortune.

3) I deal with mental illness every day. Every. Day. Some days are really hard, and they turn into weeks of really hard. If i can help let people know they aren't alone, there is a way to get help, and that help can be life-saving, then I'll keep on shouting from the rooftop (or into the microphone, really).
