Minnesota has picked up another number 1 ranking.

The website 24/7 Wall Street is listing Minnesota as the best-run state in the nation. The report notes Minnesota’s relative affluence, with a median household income of just under $65,600, which is about $8000 above the national average. The state also received kudos for its nearly perfect bond rating from Moody’s that’s partially due to its rainy day reserve fund that’s grown to over 10-percent of its annual spending along with a strong and stable tax base.

The report cited several other positive statistics, including Minnesota’s 6th lowest in the national poverty rate of 9.9-percent, and an unemployment rate that averaged 3.9-percent last year, which was the 13th lowest jobless rate in the U.S. Utah was ranked 2nd this year, followed by Iowa, Oregon, and Washington State.

Among Minnesota’s other neighbors, North Dakota was ranked 7th, South Dakota was 13th, and Wisconsin was listed 20th. The report identified Louisiana as the worst run state in the United States.

Do you agree? Do you think Minnesota is the best-run state?
