Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Fired Rochester police officer Jeffery Stobbs is appealing his recent termination.

The city’s Police Civil Service Commission fired Stobbs Dec 1st based on a recommendation from Chief Roger Peterson. His recommendation was based on an evaluation that found Stobbs was unfit for duty.

The 38-year-old Stobbs has faced several complaints of excessive force since he joined the department in 2008. Peterson says in most of the incidents he was dealt with through reprimand, suspension or other administrative measures. The most recent one was reported earlier this year and led to the termination recommendation.

His appeal was filed under the Veteran's Preference Act.
