Flooding Forces Valleyfair To Close Three Rides
The ongoing flooding is impacting operations at Minnesota’s largest amusement park.
A spokeswoman says Valleyfair has been forced to close three rides because of rising water levels along the Minnesota River. The flooding has also overrun a portion of the parking lot at the site in Shakopee.
The National Weather Service predicts the river will crest in that area Thursday morning over 10-feet above flood stage, while the Mississippi River is forecast to crest Thursday night in St. Paul at over 6 feet above flood stage.
At last report, the river was about a foot and a half over flood stage at Wabasha and was expected to crest about 2 feet above flood stage this weekend, which is right at the level where moderate flooding begins to occur.
