La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News) - A forecast that includes the possibility of heavy rain has many residents of the region nervous as the floodwaters produced by this week’s torrential rains continue to recede in most areas.

The National Weather Service says another round of thunderstorms is likely late Saturday night into Sunday morning and some of those storms could produce heavy downpours. In light of the ongoing flooding, forecasters say residents living in and near flood prone areas should be on alert because heavy rains could cause rivers and streams to begin rising again.

Widespread flooding remains common across southeastern Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and particularly northeastern Iowa, where the governor has declared a state of emergency with a number of community still experiencing severe to moderate flooding.
