Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former University of Minnesota-Rochester chemistry professor has been sentenced to just over four years in prison for possessing child pornography.

49-year-old Christopher Dezutter earlier pleaded guilty to a single count of the crime through a plea deal that resulted in the dismissal of three other felony charges. The charges were filed against him last October after a search of his iPad turned up four sexually explicit images of children and other pornography.

He was on probation at the time for his conviction on four child pornography charges stemming from an investigation that led to child porn charges against seven local men in 2015. The terms of his probation barred him from accessing the Internet without permission from his probation officer.

Dezutter is also been ordered to serve the stayed prison sentences from the earlier case, but the judge ruled the time would run concurrently with the 50-month prison term for his latest conviction.
