My wife, Cathy, and I have had six bassets over the years. Their names all started with the letter "M", except for one. We've had to say goodbye to five of the six.

I was still in Kiev with our son, Justin, when we learned that our boy, Milo, had a terminal mass around his heart. I wasn't there to be with him in his final moments. I didn't get to say goodbye to him. A couple years ago, we had to say goodbye to our boy, Max, I was in bed, sick with a cold and couldn't say my goodbye to him, either. Maize is still with us.

Tonya is a Math Teacher in Joshua, Texas, just outside of Dallas. She broke down and started crying class last week after her 16-year-old cat passed away. After class, four of her students came up with THE way to cheer her up.

Rachel, Ashlei, Makayla and Sheridan decided to surprise her in class the next day with flowers, cupcakes...and a little something more.
