Has This Sign In Rochester Made You Do A Double-Take?

I drive by this every day and have been asking myself every day, "what does this mean?"  Have you seen this sign too?

The sign is on 6th Street SW, just a few hops, skips, and jumps away from Broadway and say "ENDS".  That is all it says.  There aren't any other signs there.  Just "ENDS" on a white sign in black letters.

Here are a few ideas of what is ending on this road:

• Construction.  That is just a dream though because either way you go on Broadway right now is construction.  It's a mess and Google doesn't even know where to send anyone. 
• Bike Lane.  Maybe?  Not sure if there is even a bike lane on this road though.
• ...of an era for some local buildings that were recently torn down there.  (find what used to be by that sign here)
