Heavy Rain, Hail and Possible Tornadoes

Undated (KROC AM News) - Severe thunderstorms began developing late Monday afternoon across parts of southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.
Some produced heavy rain, hail, strong winds and possibly some tornadoes.
The National Weather Service received numerous reports of damage from Winneshiek County in northeast Iowa where a tornado may have been responsible. The reports included damaged barns and homes, as well as downed trees. Wind gusts of 60 to 80 miles per hour were fairly common, as was hail that measured 1 to 2 inches in diameter. The Weather Service expects damage surveys will be conducted Tuesday, which would help determine if there were any tornadoes.
Storm cells that popped up Monday night also produced hail in Rochester and other parts of Olmsted County. They also dumped heavy rain across the region.
Rainfall totals were in the 2 to 4 inch range in Olmsted, Wabasha, Winona and Houston counties. This led to high water in streams and rivers early Tuesday. The Weather Service says flash flooding was reported along and near the Whitewater River. Some locations that were impacted included Elgin, Altura, Viola, Elba, Beaver and Whitewater State Park.
More rain is expected through Wednesday night with another 1 to 2 inches possible.
