Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Southeastern Minnesota experienced record warmth Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service reported an unofficial high temperature of 68 degrees at the Rochester Airport, which tied the previous record high temperature for March 8th that was set in 2000. The normal high for this time of the year is in the mid to upper 30's.

Readings in the mid to upper 60's were common throughout the region, while Winona and Red Wing were the apparent hot spots with unofficial high temperatures of 72 degrees. The mercury reached 71 degrees in La Crosse, while Minneapolis and Faribault reported highs of 70 degrees.

Cooler weather is forecast the remainder of this week, but the temperatures will remain well above normal with highs from 50 to 55-degrees.
