Another traffic headache is coming your way starting May 1 as MnDOT (Minnesota Department of Transportation) will start the replacement of the Highway 56 bridges south of Stanton at Prairie Creek and and north of Kenyon at the north fork of the Zumbro River.

During construction, the bridge south of Stanton will be closed and traffic will detour via Highway 19 east to Highway 52 south to Goodhue County Road 9 west. That bridge is expected to re-open in mid August.

The bridge at Kenyon will be open during construction with the use of temporary traffic signals. One short-term closure for vehicles over 5 tons will be needed. That project is expected to be completed in mid-October.

Lunda Construction is the prime contractor for the $2.4 million project. Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones (remember, fines double in work zones) and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. Call 511 or visit 511mn.org for updates on traffic.
