Historic Chateau Theatre To Hold Encore Gala Event
A press conference was held this morning in front of the Historic Chateau Theatre on the Peace Plaza announcing an upcoming collaboration between the Rochester Civic Theatre and the City of Rochester. Mayor Ardell Brede and Rochester Civic Theatre Executive Director Gregory Stavrou spoke about an event called 'Encore Gala 2015' which take place at the Chateau on October 10th.
This will be the public's first opportunity to see the inside of the Chateau since Barnes & Noble left the building in January. The city of Rochester agreed to purchase the Chateau Theatre building this spring for $6 million, including a $500,000 contribution from Mayo Clinic. The city is still in the process of deciding the future uses of the 88-year-old building and is studying a model used by Minneapolis where a number of historic buildings are operated by a non-profit group known as Hennepin Theatre trust.
Encore Gala 2015 will be a 'creative black tie' event. Regular and VIP tickets/tables will be available for purchase beginning Monday, August 3rd through the Rochester Civic Theatre website. A limited number of tickets will be available. The event will include plated dinner, dancing and dessert buffet. Organizers say this will be social arts event of the season.
