I was in Minneapolis, Minnesota, recently to catch a plane out of state for Spring Break. I was trying to save money, so I parked at a friends house near the airport, and he gave me a ride to the terminal. As a thank you, I offered to buy him lunch. He suggested a pizza place.

Featured In Best Pizza Places In US By Yelp Elites

When we showed up, I recognized the pizza place because I had previously written about it. The story was "Two Minnesota Pizza Places Make List Of Best PIzza In U.S. " according to Yelp Elites - the most trusted reviewers and influencers. Well, I'm not a Yelp Elite reviewer, but I like pizza and I figured I'd share my thoughts.

Pizzeria Lola, Minneapolis, Minnesota

I read another story that featured Guy Fieri's favorite Minnesota restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. One of his favorite places was Pizzeria Lola, the same place I ate last month. He raves about Pizzeria Lola, and for good reason.

A Very Different Pizza Menu Than I Was Used To

Pizzeria Lola is a different kind of pizza place. It's Korean-inspired wood-fired pizza. Pizzas on the menu include:

Korean BBQ - beef short ribs, mozzarella cheese, scallion, arugula, soy-chili vinaigrette, sesame.

Lady Zaza - plum tomato sauce, Korean sausage, napa kimchi, gochujang, scallion, sesame

Xerxes - Sauteed spinach, sheep's milk feta, mozzarella, kalamata olive, almond

Tavern Pie - house red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapeno, honey

My Sharoni - house red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, fennel sausage

Our order was two pizzas - My Sharoni + Tavern Pizza

Remember, I was getting on a plane in about an hour, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to be too adventurous trying some different foods. I ended up going with the My Sharoni on a gluten-free crust. (They make their own gluten-free crust in house). My friend ordered the Tavern Pizza, which was pepperoni, jalapeno, and honey.

Great Service, Quick Food

We went at lunchtime, and it was pretty busy, but we had great service and the pizzas came out very quickly. I was excited to dig in and try this pizza everyone has been raving about.

It's one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

I get why Guy Fieri loves this place so much. My pizza was cooked to perfection. The gluten-free crust was one of the best I've had. The pepperoni was awesome (they call them pepperoni cups), and the fennel sausage was really good. I like a good sauce and lots of it on a pizza, and they had the right balance. 10/10!

My buddy's Tavern Pizza was very good too, and I'll have to go back and try this honey on pizza trend. I think they might be on to something.

You're paying for quality.

So we were in Minneapolis, where dining isn't cheap anyways, but I did have a little bit of a sticker shock. I paid about $70 for lunch for the two of us. That was a gluten-free pizza, a regular crust pizza, and two sodas. It was good, but just make sure you're budgeting for what lunch is going to cost. It's totally worth it, but maybe split the check, right?

Brick Oven Is The Center Of The Restaurant

I thought a really cool thing about Pizzeria Lola is when you walk in, the brick oven is right in the middle of the restaurant. It just has a really cool interior.

If you find yourself in Minneapolis and you love to try new things, Pizzeria Lola won't disappoint!
