Rochester, MN  ( KROC AM News) - Hundreds of people endured long lines to attend a political rally in Rochester Saturday evening to hear from one of the two candidates vying for the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders brought his “grassroots” campaign to the Mayo Civic Center, where he repeated his calls for free college tuition, expanded government health coverage and a break-up of the mega banks that dominate Wall Street.

Sanders, who was soundly defeated in the South Carolina Democratic Primary on Saturday, congratulated Hillary Clinton for her victory, but told Rochester reporters he looked forward to winning may of the hundreds of delegates up for grabs on ”Super Tuesday,” during which Minnesota voters will have the opportunity to vote in straw polls during precinct caucuses.
