Minnesota, Iowa, and Hy-Vees across the nation announced today that effective tomorrow, May 6th, customers will be limited on meat purchases due to concerns about supply lines during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an e-mail, Hy-Vee said,

At Hy-Vee, we have product available at our stores but due to worker shortages at plants as well as an increase in meat sales, customers may not find the specific items they are looking for. Because of this, we are going to put a limit on customer purchases in the meat department.

Costco made a similar announcement yesterday, with one major difference...

Costco announced today they're temporarily limiting meat purchases to three items per member. On Costco.com, the company said, "Costco has implemented limits on certain items to help ensure more members are able to purchase merchandise..." (See complete story here)

While Costco is limiting members to three items, Hy-Vee's limit is four. "Effective Wednesday, May 6, each customer will be limited to four packages of a combination of fresh beef, ground beef, pork and chicken when they checkout at all Hy-Vee locations."
