Lake Superior has many shipwrecks, and sometimes when conditions are right, you can actually see some of them. That's what's happening right now on the South Shore of Lake Superior near the Amnicon River.

We've had a very dry summer, and that's caused the lake levels near the mouth of the Amnicon River to be lower than usual. I came across a video from Camp Amincon where they show that you can actually see the remnants of a shipwreck offshore.

According to the video, the ship was called 'The Pitz' (No, not the famous Edmund Fitzgerald referred to as "The Fitz."). They say that the ship was put out of service, and back then they didn't have a way to get rid of a boat, so what they did was run it aground and set it on fire. The wreckage still remains.

I found the details of the tugboat A.H. Pitz. It was built in 1923 and was sunk in 1951. It was a 69-foot tugboat made of wood. It was powered by steam and was built in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
