18-Year-Old Byron Man Accused of Fleeing Police Four Times on Motorcycle on Broadway Ave. in Rochester
18-year-old Garin James Glessing is charged with four counts of felony fleeing, one count in each case. Officers identified Glessing as the fleeing suspect on August 3.
The first alleged fleeing incident occurred on the night of July 3. A Rochester police officer on patrol saw Glessing stop next to him at a traffic light on Broadway Ave.
The officer recognized the motorcyclist as one that was involved in a prior driving complaint.
He tried to pull Glessing over but the Byron man refused to stop, lane split between two vehicles and speeding northbound out of sight despite the officer activating his squad’s emergency lights, the complaint in the case says.
On the afternoon of July 13, a Rochester officer spotted the same motorcycle traveling at faster than normal speed and weaving in and out of traffic on North Broadway.
The officer and motorcycle were stopped at a red light at North Broadway's intersection with Silver Lake Dr. Northeast. Glessing performed a wheelie when the light turned green and appeared to make a “come on” gesture at the officer, the complaint says.
He then took off northbound and ran the stop sign in the construction zone at Broadway’s intersection with 14th St. Northeast, where he weaved through traffic and cones, the complaint alleges. He again sped out of sight from police.
Glessing nearly hit a pedestrian during the third fleeing incident on the night of July 25, the complaint says. A Rochester police officer said they heard a motorcycle rapidly accelerating behind them.
Glessing briefly slowed then ran a red light at the intersection of Center St. and Broadway. He then ran another red light at 1st St. NE and nearly hit pedestrians in the crosswalk, the complaint says.
Once again Glessing sped out of sight traveling north on Broadway as the officer activated their squad vehicle’s emergency lights.
The final alleged fleeing incident happened on the morning of August 3. Glessing was seen fleeing another Rochester officer northbound on Broadway Ave, the complaint says.
On August 5, authorities executed a search warrant at Glessing’s home in Byron and found the motorcycle along with clothing Glessing was wearing during the fleeing incidents, court documents say.
Court records indicate Glessing posted $5,000 conditional bail set in each case. He’s due back in court later this month.
