Overnight Lane Closures Planned on Highway 52 in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Motorists who travel on Highway 52 through Rochester are being advised to expect overnight lane closures for bridge cleaning work.
When Overnight Lane Closures Will Occur
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the lane closures will begin Sunday evening and will continue through the morning of May 20. The work will take place from 8 PM through 6:30 AM.
A MnDOT statement says the work involves the use of water and high-pressure pumps to clean the gutter lines and joints of the bridges. The work is needed to clear away sand, debris, and other materials that accumulated during the winter.
Traffic Delays Possible
The lane closures are expected to result in brief traffic delays. MnDOT says flaggers will be directing traffic in some areas, and there will be short-term ramp closures in the Civic Center Drive area during the overnight hours.
Areas Impacted by Overnight Ramp Closures
The bridge cleaning involves 25 bridges from 55th Street Northwest to the South Broadway interchange. It also includes bridges on Highway 63 north of 40th Street and on West Circle Drive over Highway 14.

Overall, MnDOT maintenance crews in southeastern Minnesota are flushing and cleaning more than 400 bridges as part of the annual spring maintenance project.
