Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester area has been included in a severe thunderstorm watch issued the National Weather Service.

Olmsted County is on the eastern edge of the watch area, which covers a large portion of southern Minnesota, including Owatonna, Red Wing, Austin, Albert Lea, Mankato, and the Twin Cities area. Forecasters are indicating that strong thunderstorms could develop in south-central Minnesota and move across southeastern Minnesota this evening.

The forecast for the Rochester area indicates showers and thunderstorms are likely through late tonight and could produce precipitation totals between three-quarters and an inch of rain. A chance of showers and storms will continue through the morning on Friday.
