
Shooting in Parking Lot of Stewartville Middle and High School Cancels Classes Friday

Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are on the scene of what they are describing as a “critical incident” at the Stewartville Middle and High School.

Few details are available, however initial information indicates a shooting occurred in the building’s parking lot.

Authorities Respond to Friday Morning Shooting in Stewartville Middle and High School Parking Lot
In a post on Facebook, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said, “There is no threat to the students, staff or public at this time.”
The Stewartville School District is confirming a shooting took place in the middle and high school parking lot. Officials published a statement about the shooting on the district's Facebook page shortly after 9 a.m.
Officials also said the shooting occurred around 5 a.m. Friday.
A post on the district's Facebook page says the decision to cancel classes was made out of "an abundance of caution" and due to "a law enforcement presence at our Middle School/High School."
The boys and girls basketball games scheduled against Rochester Lourdes Friday night have been canceled.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding. Also, please keep our students, staff, families, and community members in your prayers," the Stewartville Facebook post says.
The sheriff’s office says the plan to release more information during a news conference Friday morning.
