The Olmsted County Attorney's Office has determined that the use of deadly force was justified.

A news release issued by the Owatonna Police Department says the incident began with the report of a person in crisis leaving in a vehicle around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.

A woman, who was with the victim at the park, identified the suspect as her ex-boyfriend.

The BCA says a shotgun blast fired by the St. Peter man struck an officer in the arm and ballistic vest.

He was sentenced to probation for a previous felony conviction connected to a burglary in Goodhue County.

The St. Peter Police Department says one of its officers was hit by gunfire around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says officers responded to the report of shots being fired shortly after 9:30 Tuesday night.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says the ordeal began with the report of a disabled vehicle around 6:30 Monday morning. It ended with the suspect’s arrest in a farm field.

A 2nd man convicted in the case is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
