Faribault Fire Chief Dustin Dienst reports at 6:42 p.m. January 9, 2023 firefighters along with the Faribault Police Department and North Ambulance were dispatched to a structure fire at 1410 Central Avenue.

Occupants reported seeing a fire in the bathroom of the home as they exited.

In a News Release Dienst says upon their arrival, "Everyone was out of the home and flames were coming out of the window on the second floor of the home."

"Firefighters began to fight the fire from the exterior.  As additional firefighters arrived an interior attack on the fire began.  Another crew was sent to do a primary search of the home to ensure that no one was still inside.  Walls and ceilings were pulled until the fire was completely extinguished.  Crews cleared the scene at 8:38 p.m."

The Faribault Fire Department has contacted the State Fire Marshal's Office to assist in determining the cause so the investigation continues.

In his News Release Dienst says, "The home suffered major fire, smoke and water damage.  I am grateful the children in the home know what to do when they discovered the smoke.  They alerted everyone inside which is why everyone escaped unharmed."
