Minnesota’s Largest Fireworks Display to Proceed Rain or Shine

As the Fourth of July approaches, everyone has their fingers crossed, hoping that Mother Nature cooperates and doesn't rain on the parade—or the BBQs, picnics, and other get-togethers that make this holiday special. While these activities are a big part of the fun, the fireworks are always the main event.

Final preparations for Minnesota's largest fireworks display are underway. Organizers say the event will happen rain or shine and will feature delicious food trucks and live music, and best of all, it's completely free to attend!

The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday and we love celebrating all day. There's typically something on the smoker by mid-morning which is usually when the first beer is cracked. Then the slip and slide comes out for the kids while the adults play yard games. We have a great view of the city fireworks from my backyard so everyone always congregrates there.

If you're looking for a next level celebration you should check out Fourth Fest on July 4th. This family friendly party starts at 4:00 p.m. and features a wide variety of concessions, vendors, great music and the largest firework display in the entire state.

The music lineup for Fourth Fest is fantastic, with Booty and the Hoefish starting at 4:30 p.m., followed by Slope City at 5:50 p.m. Local favorite Danny Frank & the Smoky Gold will perform at 7:10 p.m., and the legendary Paul Metsa and Friends, an eight-time Minnesota Music Award winner, will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Fourth Fest is at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth and organizers say the event will proceed rain or shine, with any alternate plans considered only if high winds or lightning pose a risk.

The celebration will culminate in the upper Midwest's most spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the Duluth Harbor at 10:00 p.m.
