See the Funniest Submissions for Minnesota’s New Flag Design
The state of Minnesota is working on designing a new flag and seal. To help with the process, they asked people to submit their designs. I'm now wondering if they regretted that decision because some of these designs are ridiculously hilarious.
Over a one-month period, the State Emblems Redesign Commission collected submissions. They got over 2,600 submissions and now the photos of the approved submissions have been put up online for all of us to admire.
This tells me that there were some that we not "approved submissions". I want to know what those look like.
Later in November, the commission is going to narrow it down to the top 5 flag designs and top 5 seal designs. And finally, they'll pick just one design to be the basis for the new flag and seal. They have the right to modify the design they pick as well.
I went through all of the flag submissions and some of them are great, I could easily see them being our next flag. There are some that also showed off people's artistic skills like this one, that's really impressive.
And then there were some that were hilarious, ridiculous, and some that just didn't make sense. Let's check them out.
If this isn't Minnesotan, I don't know what is.
Featuring our true state bird, I love it.
I like the idea of showing off our crazy obsession with buffalo plaid on our state flag.
Wha...what? Is that just a picture of wood that someone submitted?
I have a friend from New York who makes fun of how we say bag, so this would be perfect.
Do you think if we use this as our flag Bigfoot will finally have the courage to come out of hiding?
If Minnesota is known for one thing, it's our winters.
I'm not even sure how this has anything to do with Minnesota.
There is SO MUCH going on here.
Now this one I can definitely get behind as our state flag!
This is cute but I'm not totally sure how this applies to Minnesota.
Hammer home with our state flag that it's duck, duck, GREY DUCK.
