So many kids who play sports dream about making it big one day. One Rochester, Minnesota native had the same dream but it was actually shot down by a former teacher. Well, now he's proving that teacher wrong because he was just drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the most recent MLB draft.

Will he be playing for the Orioles right away? We'll get to that in a second.

Century High School Alum Drafted by the Orioles

A big congratulations to Mac Horvath for the exciting news! He attended Century High School while in Rochester then went to the University of North Carolina for college.

Going back to that story I mentioned earlier about the teacher. According to the Post Bulletin, Mac had written a paper about what he wanted to be when he grew up, which was a Major League Baseball player. The teacher had told him to write about something more realistic.

Well look at him now!

Rochester, MN Native's Path to Pro-Ball

Now that he has been signed by the Orioles, now what? Well he doesn't get to play for the pro team just yet.

First, he'll go out to Baltimore to sign his contract, according to the Post Bulletin. Then he'll make his way to Sarasota, Florida, where they host training camp, for a few weeks to get back into "'full baseball shape"', as Mac put it. Finally, the plan right now is that he'll be joining the Orioles' minor-league team, the Delmarva Shorebirds.

From there, who knows! Obviously, the hope is that he'll get to hit the field as a part of the Orioles' pro team soon. That would be really cool.

Mac played a lot of outfield and also third base. He said he was drafted as an outfielder so that's where you'll likely see him playing. However, the Orioles' director of draft operations says they want to see him at third base too.

We're excited to see where Mac will go from here!
