Kingsland School District Superintendent Scott Klavetter informed families of the closure via email. It’s the second time this month the district has reported a gas leak.
Klavetter’s email says the leak that canceled classes Thursday is a separate event from the boiler-related gas leak that happened two weeks ago. He said that issue has been resolved.

Klavetter says the latest gas leak was discovered in the supply line pipes that serve the Kingsland school.
The facility’s maintenance and safety teams are working with Kingsland’s utility providers to complete repairs and to conduct pressure testing to ensure the system is safe before turning the heat back on, the email says.
“We are taking every precaution to prioritize the safety of our students and staff,” Klavetter wrote.
Kingsland schools will also work with their local gas provider to install more gas monitors throughout the school to allow for ongoing monitoring and immediate detection of any future issues, the email says.
Along with classes, SACC is closed and all after school events and activities have been canceled. Klavetter says the district will update families on the gas leak repair process later in the day on Thursday.
