If you loved the hush puppies at Long John Silver's, sadly, you'll now need to find another seafood spot to settle that craving.  Unfortunately, Minnesota's last Long John Silver's, located at the Mall of America at 378 South Ave. in Bloomington, has quietly closed.  No farewell event.  After about 18 years, the restaurant was just...gone.

Long John Silver's Has Officially Closed Its Last Restaurant In Minnesota

The seafood giant, Long John Silver's, first got its start in 1969 with its first fast food restaurant.  In the 80s, restaurants were popping up all over the United States serving up fish and chips to fans everywhere.  In 2002, it was reported that there were about 1,200 locations still operating in the United States.  Unfortunately, that number has since dropped and now sits in the upper 400s.

While Iowa still holds on to its 9 locations, Minnesota is now void of all Long John Silver's restaurants.  Minnesota's second-to-last Long John Silver's location was in Mankato and closed in 2025.

According to MSN, the restaurant at the Mall of America technically closed on April 30th, 2026.  Close to a month later, the franchisee of the restaurant, Uplifted Foods LLC, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  It is reported that it listed $100,000 to $1,000,000 in liabilities and up to $100,000 in assets.
