Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are reporting a teen man, suspected of committing a murder in southern Minnesota over the weekend, has been arrested.

A news release issued by the City of Mankato says officers responded to the report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound around 3:15 Saturday morning. 

The call came from the 100 block of Grove St., which is about five blocks east of Mankato West High School. Police found the victim inside of a vehicle and pronounced him dead at the scene.

18-Year-Old Man Arrested in Deadly Shooting Case Following Search Warrant in Mankato, MN Saturday

As part of the initial investigation, authorities executed a search warrant in the 500 block of East Walnut St., where investigators suspected the deadly shooting occurred, and took a man into custody without incident. 

The news release identifies the murder suspect as 18-year-old Guenther Boone. Boone could face multiple charges, including second-degree murder

The victim’s identity will be released upon completion of an autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, the news release says. 

Mankato Police are continuing to investigate the deadly shooting with assistance from the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
