Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Park Board agenda for Tuesday’s monthly meeting includes a request to formally adopt a new comprehensive master plan for the city’s park and recreation system.

It has taken about a year to put the plan together with help from a consultant and input gleaned from several public input sessions.

The document is described as a starting point to help guide the Park Department of the next 20 years for strategic improvements and programs. The report calls for significant expansions to the community’s recreational assets, including additional athletic fields, tennis courts, disk golf courses, mountain bike trails and dog parks.

The plan also calls for expanding the city’s trail system and making improvements at Soldiers Field swimming pool, along with developing small interactive water features throughout Rochester to provide free access to water play.
