Minnesota’s Favorite Food to Grill This 4th of July Holiday

Firing up the grill is pretty much the law in Minnesota on the 4th of July

It's practically the LAW in Minnesota that you have to fire up the grill SOMETIME over the 4th of July holiday, isn't it? (If it isn't, it SHOULD be!😜) So if you're searching for something to grill, there's a new survey that's come up with the Favorite Grilled Food in Each State, just in time for the long holiday weekend.

What's our favorite food to toss on the grill?

The number-crunchers over at GrillCookBake.com, an online reviews site for grills and accessories, did the heavy lifting and searched interest data from Google Trends to find 12 of the most common grilled foods. They then pulled the Google data from those 12 common grilled items, and by analyzing that data from the last 30 days, were able to find the top result in each state.

Minnesota's result seems a little...off

It sounds all scientific and all, but I'm not 100% sure I buy their results for Minnesota. According to their survey, Minnesota's favorite food to grill this 4th of July is... veggies?!?

What?!? No burgers? Hot dogs? Steak or chicken? Are grilled vegetables REALLY our favorite here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes? Now, while I do like some grilled asparagus or grilled corn on the cob-- along WITH a nice steak or chicken breast-- I wouldn't necessarily say the veggies themselves were my favorite

But other parts of the survey are definitely accurate

Other parts of the survey seem to check out, though. Check out the entire list of the Top 5 Favorite Foods to Grill here in Minnesota:

1. Grilled Veggies
2. Grilled Pineapple
3. Grilled Chicken
4. Hamburgers
5. Hot Dogs

Outside of the top 2 (have you made grilled pineapple?!? I haven't) the others seem legit. Over in my home state of Wisconsin, the survey says grilled bratwurst is the favorite food this 4th of July, and I gotta say, that's 100% accurate!  And down in Iowa, the survey said our neighbors to the south like grilled pork chops the best over the long holiday weekend, which also seems to make some sense.

Overall, grilled chicken was the favorite food in 19 different states, though grilled vegetables were also listed as the favorite in 8 other states in addition to Minnesota, including Colorado, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon and New Jersey.

While firing up the grill is certainly something we like to do in Minnesota over the 4th of July, packing up the car and hitting the road is another popular activity of which many of us will take part this weekend.
