St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - After a couple weeks of modest declines, the Minnesota Department of Health is reporting there was a slight uptick in flu activity in the state over the past week.

The department has raised its classification of overall influenza activity from “sporadic” to “local.” That is still very low for this time of year, when flu activity is often peaking.

The health department says it received 3 reports of probable outbreaks in schools and 2 reports of confirmed outbreaks in long-term care facilities. There was also a small increase in the number of positive results for influenza on specimens that were submitted for testing, but the percentage is still only a little over 1 percent.
