Attending The Minnesota State Fair This Year Will Now Be More Expensive Than Ever Before
If you have plans to attend the 2025 Minnesota State Fair, get ready to pay more than ever before this year.
Organizers for the Great Minnesota Get-Together announced an increase in admission prices and parking for this year, but there is a way you can escape that price hike, at least for now. Here's why prices are going up and how you can avoid the increased ticket costs.
How much are Minnesota State Fair ticket and parking prices going up in 2025?
Fair organizers announced over the weekend that the price of tickets will be going up by $2 for all varieties of tickets.

This means that a 2025 adult ticket will now cost $20, while a kids/senior ticket will be $18, and admission for kids 4 and under will remain free.
On-site parking prices will go from $20 to $25 for 2025.
Why is the Minnesota State Fair raising ticket prices in 2025?
The 2025 cost increases are being put in place "To fund extensive capital improvements and maintenance work and address rising operational costs" for the fairgrounds and the fair.
The increase comes after a year where fair organizers opted to hold prices steady. In 2024, organizers paused a string of annual $1 per year price hikes over the previous several years.
That pause was short-lived, however, as they make up for taking year off by raising prices by $2 for the 2025 fair.
Highlighted on the Minnesota State Fair's social media is a need to invest in improvements to the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum, which they say will cost an estimated $22 million.
Other things they plan to invest in with the money generated by the higher ticket prices include things like handling higher operating and public safety costs, repairing sidewalks, improving lighting, and other building improvements.
How can I save money on Minnesota State Fair tickets?
The new ticket prices will officially go into effect on January 27, 2025, so there are some opportunities to save for those who want to buy tickets early.
Between now and the 27th, the fair is offering tickets at last year's pre-sale price of $15 per ticket - a $5 savings for an adult when compared to full price.

After the 27th, the fair will still be offering a discount for buying tickets early, but the price will go up to $17 per ticket. That pre-fair price will remain in effect through August 20 (the day before the fair kicks off).
The 2025 Minnesota State Fair is from August 21 through September 1, 2025.
