Instead of the Land of 10,000 Lakes, perhaps Minnesota should be known as the Land of 10,000... pick-ups.

Because, once again in 2021, according to this survey of the Best Selling Cars in Every State for 2021 by GoBankingRates.com, a pick-up truck is once again the Best Selling Car here in Minnesota.

Their latest study looked at over 19 million vehicle sales for 2021 to determine the most best-selling used and new cars across the United States by metro area and state. And, yep, the pick-up truck is once again on top both here in Minnesota and across the country, the survey said.

In fact, pick-ups make up 3 of the top 5 most popular cars (or trucks) in Minnesota for 2021. And last year, the pick-up truck that's the most popular across the country came in at #2 here in Minnesota. The Ford F-150 took the top spot in the 2021 Best Selling Car (or Trucks) in over 25 different states-- including next door in Wisconsin and in both North and South Dakota.

That's a slight difference from the 2020 survey, which also put the Ford F-150 first here in Minnesota, as well. But in 2021, it was actually the Chevrolet Silverado that was the most popular here car (or truck) in the North Star State. The F-150 wasn't far behind, though, with Ford's pick-up coming in at #2 in 2021 in the Bold North, followed by the Dodge Ram 1500 at #3, the Chevrolet Equinox at #4, and the Honda CR-V at #5.

While I'm not surprised that a pick-up is most popular here in Minnesota, I am a little surprised more crossover SUVs aren't in the top five. I seem to see some type of SUV all the time here while driving here in southeast Minnesota.

And whether you drive a car or truck, gas prices shot up in 2021 and are still above $3 a gallon as we head into 2022. But do you remember how cheap they were when you first started driving? Keep scrolling to check out what gas was selling for the year YOU got your driver's license!
