Ellendale, MN (KROC-AM News) - There have been a couple more reports of possible police impersonators in this region.

The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office says its deputies were called to assist the Steele County Sheriff's Office and the State Patrol following two separate incidents last weekend. The first occurred on Saturday in a parking lot along I-35 near Ellendale where a motorist was in a vehicle when an older and dirty Dodge Durango with loud exhaust pulled up and the driver identified himself as an Iowa Deputy. The victim told investigators he did not feel comfortable and called 911. The other motorist then left before officers arrived.

The other incident wasn't reported until early Sunday, but it also occurred in the Ellendale area about 90 minutes after the first incident. It involved a passerby who reported seeing the suspect vehicle with red/white/blue flashing lights in the front window pulled up behind another vehicle stopped along I-35.

A news release says the first victim described the man driving the suspect as being around 30-years-old, with a medium build, and dark hair.

There were recently two reports of police impersonators in the Rochester area. One occurred in Stewartville and the other was reported in northwest Rochester. Both involved an SUV with emergency lights with Rochester Police written on the doors of the vehicle and the man driving the vehicle was wearing a nametag that read Sledgehammer.
